Terms of use · Love My Plants

The terms for using Love My Plants.

The short version: the care details are estimates, so check the plant before you act on them. Premium is a subscription that renews until you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play. Your plants live on your phone, so back them up if you want to keep them.

Who these terms are with

Love My Plants is made by Giggle My Onion LLC. These terms are an agreement between you and us about using the app, on iPhone or Android. By using it, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app.

What the app collects and why is in the Love My Plants privacy policy, which sits alongside these terms rather than inside them.

The care details are estimates

This is the part we most want you to read. The app says it too, the first time you open it.

  • A starting point, not a guarantee

Watering schedules, light and care levels, and tips are general suggestions for each kind of plant, based on typical needs, your location and what you tell the app. Your plant, its pot and your home can all differ from typical.

  • Check the real plant

Check the soil, the leaves and the roots, and look for pests, before you water, feed, prune or treat anything. If the plant and the app disagree, the plant is right.

  • Not expert advice

Love My Plants is not a substitute for professional horticultural advice. It also doesn't tell you whether a plant is safe to eat or safe to keep around children or pets, so don't rely on it for either.

Plants are living things, and some don't make it. We do our best to make the suggestions sensible, but we can't promise any particular result, and we aren't responsible for a plant that fails or for what happens because you followed a suggestion without checking it.

Free, and Premium

The app is free to use. Premium is an optional subscription that unlocks more; the app shows what is in each before you buy.

  • Buying it

Premium is sold monthly or yearly through the App Store or Google Play, and paid for with the account you use there. The price is shown in the app and confirmed by the store before you are charged. We never handle your payment details.

  • It renews until you cancel

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and the store charges you for the next one, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If the price ever changes, the store tells you first, as its own rules require.

  • Cancelling

Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Settings → Manage Subscription in the app takes you there. Premium carries on until the end of the period you have paid for, then the app goes back to the free features. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

  • Refunds

The store takes the payment, so refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, and are requested from them. We can't issue one ourselves, but if something went wrong, tell us and we will help where we can.

  • A new phone

Premium belongs to the store account you bought it with. On a new phone signed in to the same account, Restore Purchases in Settings brings it back. Because there is no Love My Plants account, it doesn't move between an iPhone and an Android phone.

  • What Premium includes

We may add to Premium, and occasionally change how a feature works. If something significant ever went away, it would be listed under “Changes to these terms” below with the date it changed, so you can see what moved before your next renewal.

Your plants, your photos

Everything you put into the app — plants, photos, notes, schedules — is yours, and it stays on your phone. We don't receive a copy, and these terms don't give us any rights over it.

That also means we can't get it back. If your phone is lost, reset or replaced, or the app is deleted, your data goes with it unless you saved a backup (a Premium feature). Keeping backups is up to you. Restoring a backup replaces everything currently in the app with what is in the file.

If you send us a problem report or an email, you let us use what you sent to answer you and to fix the problem. The privacy policy covers how we look after it.

Our part

The app, its design and the plant information in it belong to us, or to the people we licensed them from.

We give you a personal licence to use the app on phones you own or control, for your own plants. It isn't for resale, and it doesn't transfer to anyone else.

Please don't copy or republish the plant information, try to get at the app's source code, get around Premium without paying for it, or use the app to break the law. Where the law gives you a right to do any of that anyway, these terms don't take it away.

The legal part

Less friendly reading, but it sets out what each of us can expect.

  • Updates

We update the app and the plant information in it, and sometimes change or remove features. When an update changes a plant's care details, the app shows you what is different and lets you choose; your own settings are never quietly overwritten.

  • No promises beyond these

As far as the law allows, the app is provided as it is. We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise it will be free of bugs, always available, or right for every plant.

  • Limits on our responsibility

As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for a plant that doesn't make it, or for data you lose. That goes for misuse too: if the app is used in a way these terms don't allow, or a suggestion is acted on without checking the plant first, what follows isn't ours to answer for.

  • Stopping

You can stop at any time by deleting the app, after cancelling any subscription in the store. We may stop offering the app or end these terms for someone who misuses it; if we stopped offering Premium we would not keep charging for it.

If you got the app from the App Store or Google Play

The store's own terms apply to you as well, and they win over these for anything to do with the store itself.

On iPhone, these terms are between you and Giggle My Onion LLC, not Apple. Apple has no duty to support the app and isn't responsible for it, or for product, legal or intellectual-property claims about it. If the app fails a warranty that applies, tell Apple and Apple will refund what you paid for it. Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you. You confirm you aren't in a country under a US embargo and aren't on a US list of restricted parties.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page changes with them and the date at the top is updated. A change that matters to how you use the app or what you pay is listed below with the date it happened, so what changed and when is on the record rather than quietly edited away.

There have been no changes so far.
